BEIJING, May 24 (Xinhuanet) -- Facebook founder and chief executive Mark Zuckerberg appears to be responding to critism of recent privacy changes to the site saying there will be changes made soon.
He acknowledged that some users might find the new settings "too complex" and said the website would move to adjust them so that they are simpler "as soon as possible".
Writing in the Washington Post, Zuckerberg said that the site"s 400 million users were "a challenge to keep satisfied", but continued to claim that "if people share more, the world will become more open and connected. And a world that"s more open and connected is a better world".
But he conceded that "there needs to be a simpler way to control your information," and said that "in the coming weeks, we will add privacy controls that are much simpler to use".
There has been rising anger amongst some Facebook users in recent weeks over the website"s policy. Some have organised campaigns to quit the site and set up online protests such as Quitfacebookday. 、
That site has drawn more than 13,000 who say they are committed to quitting Facebook, a relatively small number compared to Facebook"e estimated 400 million users.
A Facebook page has also been set up voicing the concerns of users and attracted 2.2 million members.
Another site, called FacebookProtest, is asking disgruntled users to boycott the social networking site on June 6 by not logging in. It has drawn around 3,000 supporters.
