Midi festival line-up announced

The press release for this year"s Midi Music Festival just arrived at the Time Out office, the proud face of a moon bear staring out towards a better future is particularly moving. Let"s hope the buzz the popular yearly event generates helps raise awareness of the shocking practice of live bear bile farming.

Location

Due to technical and safety issues in Midi’s previous location (Haidian park), and considering the ever-growing number of revelers, the Midi team has decided to hold the 13th festival in Jinglangdao Park (京浪岛公园) of Mentougou district (门头沟). Jinglangdao Park is situated on the upper reaches of the Sanjiadian Reservoir of Yongding River, surrounded by grassy mountains and offering a green field twice the size of the previous location.

In this beautiful, spacious ground on the outskirts of Beijing, Midi will deliver its festival on an unprecedented scale. Meanwhile, for festival goers’ convenience, the Midi Camp (official camping site) will be set up next to the festival location. More details will be released soon, so stay tuned!

Line up

Three huge stages – Tang, Song and Yen - are planned.Dozens of rock bands from around the world will perform at the Tang and Song Stage. The Yen Stage, an electronic dance stage hosted by O2 Culture,will bring the hottest DJs.

The bands performing at this event include the legendry Mr. Big, and the celebrated Japanese hip-punk band Mongol800. Other bands hail from different continents including Canada, Germany, Spain and Australia.

For the Chinese line-up, Miserable Faith, Voodoo Kungfu, SUBS, Brain Failure and Yaksa will rock the Midi stage.

There are also exciting new comers such as Mr. Graceless, The Ghost Spardac, The Dancers and Velvet Road, who will certainly bring a breath of the fresh air to the 13th annual event.

In addition, Midi has for the very first time, set up“Kids Midi”(in cooperation with the UCCA), to bring some wonderful musical and artistic experiences to the festival’s little rockers.
