How did you celebrate Chinese New Year?

I am writing this from Scotland where I am on holiday with my wife. We are staying in our caravan which is near the border between England and Scotland. It is situated in the countryside. The nearest large town is called Berwick. The caravan has the basic amenities such as cooker and fridge although we do eat in restaurants from time to time with friends or relatives. After the very cold winter in the UK the weather is now much warmer. I really enjoy the season of Spring with its promise of summer and many bright colours (the bunches of yellow daffodils beside the roads and in the fields are especially beautiful - do you have daffodils in Shanghai? I do not remember any)

Since I wrote last I have continued to teach English at the same college. The students are from the Indian sub-continent (India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka) and, like myself, are keen on the game of cricket. Recently, there was a tournament in the Indian sub-continent involving all the cricket-playing nations, so we had lots to talk about. I have also been doing some work on my house and garden. After two years in China there was a lot of work to do, such as planting things in the garden, repairing and painting things in the house and disposing of things that we no longer need.

The preparations for the London Olympic Games next year seem to be progressing well. Tickets went on sale recently. The site for the games is in East London which, I am pleased to say, is a long way from where I live in West London
